Ben Becker has been an employee at Williamson Street Grocery Cooperative since 2014, and has long been committed to environmental sustainability, especially when it comes to food production and distribution. In 2013, Ben graduated from Marylhurst University with a Green MBA focused on Natural and Organic Resources. He studied food supply chains and completed a thesis examining how community organizations address access to food in metropolitan areas while preserving natural ecosystems. Since joining Willy Street Co-op, Ben has served in a number of roles and functions, including monitoring operational performance along the triple bottom line and coordinating efforts to promote sustainability throughout the organization. As a contributor to the co-op’s newsletter, Ben has written on topics concerning the grocery industry including organic and local marketing, the environmental impact of meat production and the relationship between retail consumer prices and the sustainability of product sourcing. His current assignment at Willy Street is in the role of project manager.
