Martin Lowery


Martin Lowery is Chair of the National Cooperative Bank (NCB) and Executive Vice President, Emeritus, of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

Dr. Lowery was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in May 2014, the highest honor that the U.S. cooperative community bestows on individuals who have made heroic contributions to the cooperative movement.  He is currently the elected U.S. representative to the board of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and chairs the ICA Principles Committee as well as serving on the ICA Membership Committee. He is also the NRECA representative to the board of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, advocating for diplomacy and development as central to U.S. international affairs.

Dr. Lowery received a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) from DePaul University and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Duke University.
