Todd Schmit is an Associate Professor in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics at Cornell University and currently serves as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion in the SC Johnson College of Business. He is the Faculty Director of the Cornell Program on Agribusiness Development and the Cornell Cooperative Enterprise Program. His research and extension interests focus on improving agribusiness firm management skills that lead to improved decision making, firm performance and industry viability, including consideration of firm, spatial and market factors on firm and industry performance. Particular areas of emphasis include cooperative business management, local and regional food systems, regional economic impact analysis, and rural economic development. Todd received his bachelor's degree in Agribusiness from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1990 and his master's degree in Agricultural Economics and PhD in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University in 1994 and 2003, respectively.
